Q: What do you teach in this class?

A: We teach the basic elements of photography so that you can have a strong understanding of how to use all of the settings on your camera and start having complete control over your photos. We give you the knowledge so that your camera now becomes an extension of your artistry!

 

Q: What kind of prior experience or knowledge should you have to take this class?

A: The only prior experience necessary is having a love for photography!!!

 

Q: What type of camera should I bring to this class?

A: You can bring any camera that you want because we teach the basic elements of photography which can be applied to all cameras. To get the very most out of the class, we then would recommend bringing a D-SLR.

 

Q: What kind of equipment do I need to bring? All I have is a point ‘n’ shoot Nikon Coolpix.

A: This class teaches the basic elements of photography to be used on any camera. You will see many people with point and shoots at our classes.

 

Q: If I give this to a friend, can he or she pick the date for the workshop and expedition?

A: Yes, your friend can choose his or her own date.

 

Q: What time is each of the workshops?

A: Most of the workshops are from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. In a few of the cities we offer late afternoon workshops from 5:00pm-9:00pm. Our Dates and Locations page will list what is offered in each market.  

Q: Is lunch provided?

A: Lunch is not included in the workshop price. Depending on the location of your particular workshop, there are many lunch options available-either within the hotel or nearby. You are welcome to bring your lunch.

 

Q: Does each individual need their own camera, or can two people share?

A: Most people bring their own camera, but its fine to share with someone else as a team.

Q: Can you tell me more about what the Expedition is?

A: Our expeditions are outdoors. We take this opportunity to give you photo assignments so that you can start applying everything that you just learned in the workshop.

 

Q: How many people are in each class? Is there a max number per class?

A: We do have a maximum per class and that all depends on the location and the size of the meeting room, however, he larger the class the better (the energy level is incredible)! We specialize in teaching photography and making sure that everyone leaves our class with a strong understanding of the basic elements of photography, no matter what the class size is. Q: If we have a D-SLR would be specific instruction regarding the use of the manual functions on that type of camera?

A: You will get the very most out of the class if you bring your D-SLR. We will be going over all of the settings of the D-SLR!

 

Q: Can I sign up myself and my 13 year old daughter together?

A: Even though this class is for adults, we have seen children as young as 13 years old as long as they are accompanied by an adult.

Q: Am I allowed to change my workshop date once I’ve registered?

A: We request that you not change dates once you’ve registered. Exceptions will be handled on a case-by-case basis.

 

Q: Do I have to take the workshop before the expedition?

A: Yes, we require you to complete the workshop portion before attending a expedition.

 

Q: Can I take the Expedition portion of the class on a different day than the workshop?

A: We understand that a full day is a big commitment but to get the most out of this class we reccommend taking the expedition on the same day as your workshop.  However, it is not required and you may take it on a later date.

 

Q: How will I be able to get the very most from the workshop if I attend a large class?

A: Val Westover & Stephanie Adriana's entertaining step by step, easy to understand teaching style, is filled with images, examples, and detailed explanations so that no matter what the class size is, you will leave with a strong understanding of all of the settings on your camera.  You will be given the knowledge of how to have complete control of your photography and your camera can now just be an extension of your artistry!

 

Q: How will I get individual attention if I attend a large Photo expedition?

A: Our photo expeditions are very important because this gives you a chance to apply everything that you just learned from the photography class. During the photo expedition Val Westover & Stephanie Adriana will give you a series of easy to understand photo assignments. They will make themselves available to you if you need extra help finding the settings on your camera so that you will be able to accomplish your photo assignments. Accomplishing the photo assignments will give you the jump start needed to be able to practice daily so that you can take your photography to the next level.
